About Krissy Sommerstad
With more than two decades of experience leading communications for Fortune 500 companies and other complex organizations, I help leaders translate business priorities into clear, compelling strategies that strengthen reputation, engage stakeholders and move priorities forward. I bring a calm, collaborative and data-informed approach that combines senior counsel with hands-on leadership.
As founder of Wonderstad, I serve as a strategic advisor, consultant and fractional communications leader for organizations ranging from global corporations to growth-stage businesses and mission-driven organizations. I’m often brought in during periods of transformation, high visibility or leadership transition to counsel executives, shape strategy and lead teams through complex communications challenges.
My work spans enterprise and executive communications, reputation and issues, organizational change, employee engagement, media relations, audience and channel strategy, governance and measurement. Recent engagements include global corporate and executive communications for Walgreens Boots Alliance, enterprise communications for Gravie, executive positioning and U.S. communications for Eckoh and organizational change and stakeholder communications for Mississippi Market and River Market community co-ops.
While my experience spans industries and audiences, my approach is consistent: start with the business objective and the audience, then build the strategy, narrative, channels and measures needed to create impact.
After nearly 15 years in Chicago, I now live back home in Minneapolis with my husband and our three boys. I’m active in causes and communities that matter deeply to me, including volunteering with the Alzheimer’s Association, serving as an advisory board member for City Elementary in Chicago.
Throughout the year, I am proud to also dedicate time and expertise to strengthening and advocating for my local communities, including our public school district and Minneapolis’ Greek-American community and its home of more than 125 years, St. Mary’s Greek Orthodox Church.
